He completed his MBBS from Medical College, Shimla and did his MS in General Surgery as well as M Ch. Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery from PGIMER, Chandigarh. Subsequently, he worked as faculty at Medical College, Shimla and PGIMER, Chandigarh and later at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute, Lucknow as Additional Professor. He has performed more than 27,000 surgeries ranging from neonates to geriatric patient with excellent results. He is a keen academician and has numerous publications in various national and international journals. He is among the pioneers of Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery for Complex Congenital Heart Defects program in India and initiated the first Coronary Bypass at PGIMER and SGPGI, Lucknow.
