Query: Pls guide us for COVID vaccine for CVT patient.
Sir, My wife had gone through treatment of CVT (Cerebral venous thrombosis) from suraksha hospital, Vijayawada under the guidance of Dr.VVB Chowdary for some years i.e from 2007-2011. She stopped the medication for CVT in 2012, as the doctor mentioned to stop. Would it be okay for her to take the COVID vaccine considering her previous condition? Does she need to take any tests for taking vaccine? If she is allowed to take vaccine which vaccine would you prefer? Please guide us through this

Reply: Dear Sir,
As per the guidelines issued by ministry of health, vaccine should be administered with caution in persons with history of any bleeding or coagulation disorder. So she can take the vaccine, but be alert and observant post vaccination to identify any symptoms and take appropriate care. Protection from covid is more important. She does not require any tests prior to it. She can take whichever vaccine is available.
