Hereditary or the genetic factors playing a role in the disease can’t be changed. Although we now have a hope in the form of gene therapy which may come into practise in coming years. But for now try to minimize the risk factors-
(a) Blood pressure- try to maintain it below 120/80 mm of Hg (b) Blood sugar –fasting levels should be 70-110 mg% (c) Cholestrol- below 200 mg/dl (d) Triglycerides- below 150 mg/dl (e) HDL-above 40 mg/dl (f) LDL-below 100 mg/dl (g) Weight (BMI)-below 25 (h) Waist circumference-Less than 45” in men and 35” in women
To achieve these goals, eat the right type of food (Omega 3 supplements are good for heart), avoid fast foods and maintain weight, exercise, stop smoking, keep away from stress and take enough rest. Make this your daily routine.
