Dr. Hafeez Rahman is one of the true pioneers in the field of Laparoscopy. After completing MBBS from Calicut Medical College, he joined Govt. Medical College at Ahmedabad for his post graduation. He is a Gold Medallist from Gujarat University. He has worked with renowned oncosurgeons from UK and Australia at Regional Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
He did the first laparoscopic hysterectomy in 1992, only three years after the first laparoscopic hysterectomy in the world was documented in 1989. Over the past 20 years, he has done more than 60,000 laparoscopic surgeries including over 20,000 laparoscopic hysterectomies.
He is a visiting laparoscopic surgeon at various institutes in India and abroad (Malaysia, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bangladesh & Pakistan). He introduced laparoscopy in many states in India.
Being innovative and blessed with special surgical skills including the rare gift of being ambidextrous, he has invented not only several new gynaecological surgical techniques, but also the instruments required to perform them. He has modified several existing surgical techniques, making them cost-effective, easier to perform, safer and of greater efficacy.
He is the youngest secretary of FOGSI and has been active member of many societies and organizations. Teaching is his passion and he has trained more than 2000 doctors from different parts of the world.
Dr. Hafeez Rahman is also a professional artist (drama, painting). He is a certified Karate teacher and a Black Belt holder in Karate.
