Dr. SWATI R KANAKIA , Paediatric - Haematologist Doctor in MUMBAI

Dr. Swati Kanakia is a graduate from the Grant Medical College Mumbai. Dr. Kanakia completed her postgraduate studies in Pediatrics at the same institute. During her post graduate career too she excelled in academics and received a gold medal in the DCH examination. From 1992-2000 she completed her PhD in Applied Biology with plasma borne infections in thalassemia as her dissertation topic. She worked at the Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology, Department of Pediatrics at the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and Hospital. She is trained in all aspects of pediatric hematology and oncology during her tenure. To gain more experience in pediatric oncology she visited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, USA on a Travelling Scholarship from the International Outreach of the hospital. She was also awarded Bibi Chand Scholarship by Indian Academy of Pediatrics. On her return from USA, she was awarded Senior Research Fellow & Research Associateship for a period of six years by the CSIR Council for Industrial and Scientific Research. Thereafter she has been working at various prestigious hospitals in the city of Mumbai as a consultant pediatric hematologist oncologist.
