Raj is currently working as a Dietician Executive at Columbia Asia Referral Hospital, Yeshwanthpur, Bangalore, for the past 7 years.  After her Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Quality Control, Chemistry, Microbiology, in the year 2003, from the prestigious Maharani’s College for Women, University of Mysore, Mysore, she pursued her postgraduation, Master of Science in Food Science and Nutrition from the esteemed Department of Studies in Food Science & Nutrition, University of Mysore, Mysore, in the year 2005. She obtained both of these degrees with first class merits. After her postgraduation, she furthered her academic career by getting her Diploma as a Diabetes Educator from International Diabetes Federation called HOPE in 2010. She then worked as a project assistant in CFTRI, Mysore, which gave her the scope of presenting papers and articles in various journals, which were diet-related, both at the national and international levels. She has a strong conviction that for a healthy lifestyle an individual must give prominence to his/her healthful diet. She further ascertains that unhealthy eating habits and a nutrient-deficient diet ruins health and productivity, thus paving the way for lifestyle problems, and metabolic diseases. She has   participated in educative CMEs, seminars, and lectures on lifestyle diseases in over 100 plus IT companies. As a Dietician Executive, her role is to emphasize on correct dietary habits for inpatients and outpatients, adequate nutrition for pre- and post-menopausal women, prevention of childhood obesity, etc., for which she has successfully conducted many workshops on Food Safety and Enteral Nutrition. Currently, her activity is focused on counseling patients on food safety and nutrition – a way to healthy living - which she stresses, so that inpatients have reduced hospital stay, good recovery, and freedom from infection. Further, she is assessing the nutritional requirements of all admitted patients; regularly monitoring the food services of the hospital; randomly checking on the café kitchen services; constantly reviewing the outpatient pediatric, diabetic, cardiac, obesity, and GI clinics for nutrition education; and diligently counseling patients before discharge from the hospital.
Over 12 Years.
