Depending on the organism detected (bacteria, fungus), long term course of antibiotics or antifungal agents is given. The other option is of surgical intervention. Newer treatment modalities like stem cell treatment, angiogenic gene therapy, etc are still under trial phase and their role here would be clear only after these studies are complete.
