Dear Kamlesh, Chest pain is most commonly related with a heart attack but it can have a non-cardiac origin also. It may result due to gas and acidity, muscle pull, being over weight, hiatal hernia, pleuritis, physical exertion, emotional stress, etc. Chest pain related to cardiac problems is commonly associated with pressure or tightness in chest, severe crushing pain that may radiate to back, jaw, shoulder or left arm along with shortness of breath, sweating or nausea. Make sure that your blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol and weight are under control. If the pain still persists after ruling out these causes, please consult a cardiologist for further checkup and treatment, including a ECG, X-ray, routine biochemistry, Echocardiography and TMT. Any change in medication should be done after consultation with the treating doctor.
