First of all, it is a very good thought on your part as you would save the life of your brother through this donation. As a Kidney donor, you would first be examined whether you are a good match for the recipient or not. If there is no other co-existing illness in you and the tissue matches, you’d undergo surgery for kidney removal.
There is no long term risk for you as such. The long-term survival rate, quality of life, general health status and risk of kidney failure are about the same as that for people in the general population. So do not worry on that account. Regular checkups and monitoring of your kidney function and blood pressure would be done to evaluate your health after kidney donation.
