Procedure : CHOLECYSTECTOMY (GALLBLADDER REMOVAL)
ABOUT CHOLECYSTECTOMY (GALLBLADDER REMOVAL):
This is a surgical procedure done to remove the gall bladder. Gall bladder is a pear shaped organ situated near liver which stores bile. The most common reasons for its removal are gall bladder stones (Cholelithiasis), Bile duct stones (Choledocholithiasis) and infection (Cholecystitis). When done through a large incision on the abdomen, it is termed as Open cholecystectomy. It can also be done through laparoscopic route. It is a commonly done procedure with quick recovery post surgery. This procedure is done by a General Surgeon or Laparoscopic surgeon or Gastroenterology surgeon.
