ABOUT CHOLECYSTECTOMY OPEN:
This is a surgical procedure done to remove the gall bladder. Gall bladder is a pear shaped organ situated near liver which stores bile. The most common reasons for its removal are gall bladder stones (Cholelithiasis), Bile duct stones (Choledocholithiasis) and infection (Cholecystitis). A large incision is given on the right side of abdomen, just beneath the ribs. It is done under general anaesthesia. This procedure is done by a General Surgeon or Laparoscopic surgeon or Gastroenterology surgeon.
