ABOUT THE DISEASE
Tennis elbow, is a painful condition of the elbow. It occurs due to strenuous overuse of forearm muscles and tendons near the elbow joint. It is commonly seen in people playing racquet sports like tennis, and also in those having repetitive motions like plumbers, carpenters, painters, etc.
SYMPTOMS
- • Pain or burning on the outer part of elbow
- • Weak grip strength
CAUSES
Tennis elbow is an overuse and muscle strain injury. Due to repeated contraction, tiny tears develop in the tendons that attach the forearm muscles to the elbow, leading to inflammation and pain.

- Physical Examination
- X ray
- MRI
- EMG Scan
TREATMENT METHODS
Nonsurgical treatment options include giving rest to the area, use of supportive brace, physical therapy, using proper movement techniques, NSAIDs, Steroid injection and Extracorporeal shock wave therapy.
If these do not help, surgery may be advised where the diseased muscle is removed and healthy muscle is reattached back to bone. It may be done through open or arthroscopic route.
