ABOUT THE DISEASE
This disease is an inherited neurological disorder, named after its founders, that damages the peripheral nerves in arms and legs. The symptoms appear in adolescence or early adulthood, but this condition can develop in midlife too.
SYMPTOMS
CAUSES
It is caused by mutations in genes that affect the normal function of peripheral nerves.
DIAGNOSIS
- Physical examination- EMG- Nerve conduction test
TREATMENT METHODS
As of now there is no cure for this disease, but physiotherapy, exercise, occupational therapy, walking aids, etc are helpful. Surgery may be advised in few cases, as for correction of Flat feet, Muscle contractures, etc.
