ABOUT VAGINOPLASTY:
Also known as : Vaginal Tightening, Vaginal Rejuvenation
Vaginoplasty is a procedure that aims to tighten up the vagina in women whose vaginal muscles have become loose and stretched due to childbirth or aging. This is done by removing excess vaginal lining and tightening the surrounding soft tissues and muscles. It helps enhance the sexual life through improved tone, contraction strength and sensation.
PROCEDURE
Under general anaesthesia, the external diameter of the vagina is reduced and the stretched muscles at the back of the vagina are joined and shortened along with removal of excess skin. A laser may or may not be used for this procedure.
DURATION
The surgery is completed in 1-3 hours. The length of time depends on the extent of the vaginal relaxation and whether both the anterior and posterior vaginal walls/muscles are treated.
RECOVERY
Routine work can be resumed within two to five days. Full healing takes approximately six weeks and sexual activity is to be avoided till then.
RISKS
The most common risks of surgery include bleeding, infection and scarring. But the risk is minimized if the procedure is carried out by qualified and experienced Cosmetic surgeon.
