Reply: Dear Mam,
Ectopic pregnancy refers to a condition where pregnancy occurs at a site other than the uterus. This may occur in the fallopian tubes, ovary, cervix or abdominal cavity. Absence of menstrual period along with early symptoms of pregnancy may be experienced. If you have had these symptoms, along with a doubtful sac in the right adnexa (as per the ultrasound report), it is essential to get the HCG levels tested to confirm if its a case of ectopic pregnancy. As such pregnancy cannot continue to full term and can lead to life threatening complications in the mother, it has to be managed without any further delay, with medical and/or surgical treatment options. Please get the test done as advised, at the earliest and continue treatment in consultation with the Gynecologist in your city.
