ABOUT THE DISEASE
This is a disease which causes excessive sweating, even in cool temperature and while resting. People who have hyperhidrosis sweat heavily and sweat most of the time, even without the usual triggers.

SYMPTOMS
Generally causes an excess amount of sweating, mainly from palms, hands, feet and underarms. It can lead to body odour.
CAUSES
Over active sweat glands i.e primary hyperhidrosis generally happens without any reason and seems to run in families, however in the case of secondary hyperhidrosis (where the real trigger is some other medical condition), the possible causes can be:
- Acromegaly
- Anxiety
- Menopause
- Problems with blood sugar control
- Hyperthyroidism
- Heart disease
- Cancer
- Caffeine
- Certain medicines, eg.aspirin, some blood pressure medicines and antidepressants
- Spinal cord injury
DIAGNOSIS
- Medical history
- Blood and urine tests, to determine any underlying disorder
TREATMENT METHODS
- Antiperspirants
- Anticholinergic drugs, eg.glycopyrrolate
- Iontophoresis
- Botox therapy
- Endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS)
