Dr. Sohrab Arora, was trained in urology at SGPGI, Lucknow, and subsequently in minimally invasive urology at Medanta, is extensively published in the field of urology and urologic cancer surgery, having over 50 publications and conference presentations, and several book chapters in the subject. He won the prestigious RK Sharma Gold medal, and also the Best resident award during his residency in SGPGI, besides several zonal and national awards in urology. One of his prominent contributions was the validation of predictive models for prostate cancer in the Indian population, in which it was found that the Western nomograms in prostate cancer do not perform well in the Indian population, and that there is a need to develop our own predictive models for risk assessment. His research on the management of Antenatally detected hydronephrosis after birth has been published in the prestigious Journal of pediatric urology, for which he was awarded the Best international publication award by the North zone urological society of India.
He has also worked on the development and use of low cost mesh in cystocele repair in female patients while he was at SGPGI, Lucknow.
His current field of interest is urological cancer surgery with a focus on minimally invasive techniques. His commitment to clinical research and patient care remains an asset to the kidney and urology institute.
