Dr.Viswanathan is the Managing Director, M.V. Hospital for Diabetes and Diabetes Research Centre, Royapuram, Chennai, India. It is a WHO Collaborating Centre for Education, Research and Training in Diabetes.
Dr Viswanathan has over 100 original publications in Diabetic Nephropathy and Diabetic Foot. He is the Secretary of Association of Physicians of India – Tamil Nadu State Chapter. He has received Dr. J. N. Berry Award for other specialities in 1997, Hoechst Senior Lectureship in Diabetes in 2005, Dr. B. R. Sengupta Oration Gold Medal in 2006 from API (West Bengal).He was recently conferred with 'PJ Mehta Oration Award 2009' from the Association of Physicians of India.He was also honoured with a FRCP degree by Royal College of Physicians London for his contribution in the field of diabetes,diabetic foot and diabetes kidney.
