Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. It is especially common among women and men under 25. Chlamydia can infect the penis, vagina, cervix, anus, urethra, eye, or throat.

CAUSES

This is an infection caused by a bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis that is passed most often through sexual contact. People of all ages and both sexes can get Chlamydia.

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms in women :-

• • Abnormal vaginal discharge
• • Bleeding
• • Painful periods
• • Abdominal pain with fever
• • Pain when having sex/urinating
• • Itching/burning in or around the vagina
• • increased frequency of urination
• • vaginal bleeding after intercourse

Symptoms in men :-

• • pain or a burning feeling while urinating
• • pus or watery or milky discharge from the penis
• • swollen or tender testicles

DIAGNOSIS

- Clinical evaluation
- Urethral/Cervical/Throat swab
- Urine examination

TREATMENT METHODS

Oral antibiotics such as azithromycin / doxycycline.
